Tottenham Willing to Offloading Winger Welsh International Johnson.

Brennan Johnson in action
Brennan Johnson has earned 42 times for Wales since his first appearance in 2020.

Spurs' European final hero Brennan Johnson finds himself in an unclear situation in North London amid growing Premier League attention in his services.

Sources suggest that the club, while not actively looking to part with the Welsh international, are considering letting Johnson leave if they get a substantial offer.

The Eagles are presently the team most advanced in their pursuit for Johnson, but other teams are thought to be watching developments with interest.

A Season of Mixed Fortunes

Johnson was Spurs' top top-flight scorer the previous campaign with 11 goals, and etched his name in club history by netting the winner in their European final triumph over Manchester United in Bilbao, bringing to a close the club's seventeen-year wait for a major honor.

However, the exit of the previous manager and appointment of Thomas Frank has resulted in Johnson playing more of a peripheral role this season.

The Welsh forward, has made only six top-flight starting appearances under Frank.

Transfer Market Interest Mounts

As a result, a series of clubs have been alerted to his likely exit before the winter transfer window.

Due to his limited game time and the looming possibility of a World Cup on the horizon with Wales, a transfer elsewhere from Tottenham could benefit Johnson in January.

The attacker moved to Spurs from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £47.5m in the summer of 2023 and has registered 27 goals in all competitions.

Summary

  • Brennan Johnson's future at Tottenham is currently in doubt.
  • The club is not actively marketing him but would consider offers.
  • Crystal Palace are at the front of the queue, with other Premier League clubs monitoring.
  • The arrival of manager has reduced his playing time significantly.
  • The January transfer window and Wales's commitments could drive a potential move.
